KIDS COOKING PARTY – MAKING COOKING FUN FOR KIDS
Cooking with kids is not always easy, if I’m really honest. However, cooking is such a valuable skill for kids to learn and there are some fantastic unintentional learning moments in it. It is important to find a way to make cooking with kids as enjoyable as possible, for everyone involved; we do this by having a ‘kids cooking party’.
Why Is Cooking With Kids So Important?
Children need to understand the importance of this great life skill. Cooking at home means are able to enjoy better financial health by saving money. Also, it means we are looking after our bodies by fuelling ourselves with more natural foods than what we get from a packet. Finally, children learn more about sustainable living and looking after their environment.
It’s important for kids to know that they don’t have to go to the supermarket to get a packet of biscuit; also, to know that there are other ways to get a pizza than from a shop!
How To Make Cooking With Kids Fun
We find cooking recipes for kids, which include foods that they will love to eat at the end. Sweets and baking with the kids are a favourite, but so is homemade pasta and pizza!
Kids cooking can be really fun. We have a kids cooking set which includes:

Easy Cooking For Kids
Cooking with kids can look a range of different ways and it certainly doesn’t mean they have to be part of every single step in the process. You can make a decision about the level of involvement they have, depending on what you are cooking. Remember, it is about involving them in the food process. Here are some examples:
- read the recipe;
- get the ingredients from the cupboard, fridge or garden;
- weighing ingredients;
- kneading, mixing, beating, stirring;
- decorating, icing a cake, plating up;
- topping a pizza, running pasta through a pasta machine or pressing scones.
